What do you treat?
We treat a variety of complaints including arms, legs, backs & hips. We treat injuries due to sports, overuse, falls as well as chronic pain. We also treat pelvic floor both internally & externally.
Do I need a script or referral?
Not initially. You can see a Physical Therapist without a referral from your doctor for 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first, through a process called direct access. Due to the hour long one-on-one sessions patients typically come less frequently & therefore hit the 30 day mark before they have 10 visits. If you are pregnant or newly post partum & looking for an internal pelvic evaluation, Fern Physical Therapy, PLLC will require a prescription & clearance from your provider. In New York state the prescription can come from a physician, nurse practioner, nurse midwife, podiatrist or dentist.

What should I wear?
Wear comfortable & flexible clothing. Most people come in athletic clothes. You are more than welcome to change in our restroom if needed.
How long are the sessions?
Every session whether evaluation or follow up is one hour & always one on one. A comprehensive functional movement assessment of whole-body systems to determine root cause of pain. A personalized & individualized program created following the evaluation with emphasis on optional movement & patient empowerment. Always taking into account emotional aspects, hobbies, passions & family. Patients are usually seen for an average of four to eight sessions.
Can I bring my partner?
Absolutely! This can be especially helpful if you are a new mom to help remember all the information as well as learn ways to help you at home. In regards to pelvic floor evaluation & treatment you are always welcome to bring a second person to be present with you during your session.
Can I bring my child?
Of course! Please note we do have stairs to enter the clinic in the case you plan to bring a stroller. We can use that time to assess body mechanics when holding/nursing/picking up your baby and make that a part of your treatment. If you are nursing, we encourage you to continue to nurse as needed throughout the appointment. We can make adjustments to your position or activity as needed to accommodate you. We have a waiting area where family or older children are welcome to sit and hang out during your session. Please note though there is no barrier to the staircase.

Should I still come if I have my period?

If you are not comfortable with this, we can always reschedule your appointment.
Do you accept insurance?

Freedom to do & treat however is best for your body, your journey, your goals & spend more time with you to actually get you better.
